Quick answer. HDMI ARC port, CEC on, TV output set to the bar. Optical is the backup path.

A bar on a non-ARC HDMI port stays silent while the TV speakers keep talking.

MarketPalace Guide Center writes this as a solution walkthrough — the order we would use if we were in the room with you. We name the next click, then what to do if that click fails. We do not sell the TV, the kettle, or the plane ticket.

If a menu name on your set or phone does not match, use the closest wording and email hello@marketpalace.shop. We correct live pages when the path has moved.

What you need

  • Bar, power, HDMI or optical cable

1. Plug the bar into the socket labelled ARC or eARC

Power the bar first, then the TV.

2. Turn on CEC

Anynet+, SimpLink, Bravia Sync, EasyLink.

3. Set TV sound output to HDMI ARC

Turn TV speakers off if you hear echo.

4. Use optical and PCM if ARC drops

A cheap HDMI cable is a common ARC failure.

If it still fails

  • HDMI IN on the bar is for a console, not the TV return.

When you are done, browse more in TV & Living Room or search the Guide Center for the next job on your list. A neighbour problem — a remote, a bill, a suitcase — has its own walkthrough.

Common questions

Need eARC?

Only for fancy lossless formats. ARC is enough for TV.
