Quick answer. Find the panel, look for the handle that is not in line, push fully OFF then ON. If it trips again at once, unplug that circuit and stop.

A breaker that sits in the middle is tripped even if it looks 'on'.

MarketPalace Guide Center writes this as a solution walkthrough — the order we would use if we were in the room with you. We name the next click, then what to do if that click fails. We do not sell the TV, the kettle, or the plane ticket.

If a menu name on your set or phone does not match, use the closest wording and email hello@marketpalace.shop. We correct live pages when the path has moved.

What you need

  • Dry hands
  • Flashlight

1. Stand on a dry floor and open the panel

One handle will be between on and off or clearly out of line.

2. Push it firmly to OFF, then to ON

A half push will not catch.

3. If it trips immediately, unplug everything on that circuit and try once more

A short in an appliance will trip it again. Leave that appliance unplugged.

4. If it trips with nothing plugged in, stop

Call a licensed electrician. Do not keep resetting.

If it still fails

  • This is household practice, not a licence to rewire. Wet basements and burning smells are stop-now jobs.

When you are done, browse more in Home & Fixes or search the Guide Center for the next job on your list. A neighbour problem — a remote, a bill, a suitcase — has its own walkthrough.

Common questions

Breaker vs GFCI?

Bathrooms and kitchens may have a GFCI outlet with a Reset button. Try that first.
